Our Mission
To advance the quality of children's eye care in Pakistan through education, advocacy, research, and collaboration among pediatric ophthalmologists and allied health professionals. Through ongoing training initiatives, advocacy efforts, and community outreach, APOP continues to work towards the prevention of childhood blindness and the provision of equitable, high-quality eye care for all children in Pakistan.
Our Vision
The Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology Pakistan (APOP) was established in 2010 with the vision of advancing the care of children with eye diseases and disorders of vision across the country. A Pakistan where every child has access to quality eye care, and preventable blindness is eliminated through early detection and treatment.
History of APOP
What began as a small group of dedicated pediatric ophthalmologists has evolved into a nationally recognized professional body representing specialists committed to excellence in pediatric eye care. Since its inception, APOP has played a pivotal role in promoting education, research, and collaboration in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. The Association has successfully organized national conferences and scientific meetings in major cities across Pakistan, providing a vital platform for knowledge exchange and professional development.
Foundation
APOP was established by a group of visionary pediatric ophthalmologists committed to improving children's eye care in Pakistan.
First Annual Conference
Organized the first national conference on pediatric ophthalmology, bringing together specialists from across the country.
ROP Initiative
Launched the nationwide Retinopathy of Prematurity screening and treatment program in collaboration with major hospitals.
Continued Growth
Continuing to work towards the prevention of childhood blindness through education, research, and advocacy.
Annual Conference
APOP Annual Conference scheduled for September 25-27, 2027 in Karachi, bringing together pediatric ophthalmology specialists from across Pakistan.
